Product Details

The Drama 11/12 students are proud to present “Antigone,” a Greek tragedy by Sophocles. Following civil war in Thebes, Antigone goes against the laws of the new king in order to follow her conscience. King Creon wants to make an example of Antigone despite the many citizens who plead with him on her behalf. This battle of wills ultimately ends in tragedy and is a poignant statement on power and pride. Although the play was written nearly 2500 years ago, the themes of Antigone are timeless--questions about faith, dogmatism, and how our beliefs can sometimes render us incapable of extending grace.
