We would like to take this opportunity to communicate with ACS’ current and past parents regarding the recent cybersecurity incident involving PowerSchool, the application used by ACS and many schools across North America to store a range of student information.
As explained in our initial email to current families, PowerSchool has confirmed that data belonging to our students from 2012 to 2024 was accessed by an unauthorized user.
As part of their work to support affected customers, PowerSchool will be emailing the guardians of students (including homestays) using the addresses that were in our system at the time of student enrolment. In this email, PowerSchool will offer the following:
- two years of complimentary identity protection services, which will be provided by Experian, for all current and former students; and
- two years of complimentary credit monitoring services, provided by TransUnion for students who have reached the age of majority.
In order to learn more about these offerings and activate them, please visit Powerschool’s website. As we do not have current emails for many of our past students, we encourage parents to forward this email to their children who attended ACS between 2012-2024.
Sincerely,
Mike Riezebos
Interim Executive Director
