What do we truly want for our young athletes?

Culturally, sports carry power. The kind that shapes young people, opens doors to the future, and brings entire nations together. Our athletes today are more talented than ever, and the intensity of competition keeps growing.

So what does it mean to glorify God in all of it — in a team huddle, in a spike, in a win, in a loss…especially a loss?

Jason Warkentin will share how we can steward our young athletes in the midst of it all, guiding them to pursue Christ and character in competition.

Guest Speaker: Jason Warkentin

Jason Warketin serves as the Director of Youth Initiatives across Canada for Athletes in Action, where he’s had the privilege of working for 11 years. He loves empowering young people and helping them grow through sports and mentorship. He was born and raised in Abbotsford where he spent his secondary and post-secondary years immersed in volleyball, both as an athlete and later as a coach. The sport taught him valuable lessons and brought lifelong friendships.

Jason has been married to Vanessa for 12 years, and together they have three daughters: Annalea, Lucia, and Elysia. This summer, he took his 8 year-old daughter on her first overnight hike at Manning Park.
