We believe it takes a village to raise a child. That’s why we partner with parents to nurture their little one’s potential from the inside out.

We hope you’ll consider ACS for kindergarten! We know that this is one of the biggest decisions you will make for your family and that’s why we’d love the opportunity to show you some of the reasons we think ACS might be a fit for your family.

WHY CHOOSE ACS?

  • PLAY-BASED LEARNING  is where it's at! Few of us learn best by sitting at a desk with a worksheet. That's why our kindergarten teachers use play-based activities and projects that allow kids to explore, discover, and jump into their learning with both feet!

  • We offer  PART-TIME & full-time options. Plus, our elementary campus features a complete music program and French beginning in grade 1 (with dedicated teachers in both subjects).

  • Outdoor exploration is important for the minds, bodies, and souls of young kids. Our Kindergarten program includes extra, purposeful TIME IN NATURE to apply their learning and get to know their Creator and His creation.

  • EACH CHILD IS UNIQUE,  needing different support for their learning journey. We walk alongside each child individually, in a safe and welcoming environment, so they know they are valued and cared for.

  • Most importantly, we are committed to developing not just the MIND of your child, but also their HEART and SOUL. Because we believe in educating the  WHOLE CHILD .

PROGRAM OPTIONS

Kindergarten at ACS is a unique program that integrates part-time and full-time students. Kindergarten families have the option of part-time (M,W,Fr) or full-time (5 days a week). Our program includes flexible onboarding: Families may adjust their program choice (part-time ↔ full-time) after Christmas Break or Spring Break, based on availability. If you have more questions about how the program works, please check out our FAQ page.

PART-TIME KINDERGARTEN

Children in our part-time program attend school three full days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) in the same classroom as full-time peers, with 6–8 part-time students per class. These days with all students are called Foundation Days, and the class will cover: core skills in literacy, numeracy, Bible lessons, and purposeful play.

FULL-TIME KINDERGARTEN

Children in our full-time program attend school five full days per week, blending foundational learning and discovery experiences. In addition to the Foundation learning days, on Tuesday and Thursday full-time students will have Discovery Days: inquiry adventures, outdoor exploration, science, art, and music. For part of these days students learn with kindergarten subject specialists (like a Nature Teacher).

THE KINDERGARTEN EXPERIENCE

PURPOSEFUL PLAY

Our kindergarten teachers recognize the importance of social skill development, self-regulation and resilience, co-operative and collaborative interactions, and play at this developmental stage. Purposeful play through learning stations, free choice/free play time, partner boxes (literacy and numeracy), STEM, art, outdoor exploration, and imaginative play is a focus for all of our kindergarten programs.

A TEAM APPROACH

Our kindergarten teaching team takes a collaborative approach to developing the kindergarten program. While our students experience ONE home room teacher to provide a consistent connection point, they’ll also experience learning time with our kindergarten subject specialists, learning support staff, and seamless day staff – all of whom we’re HUGE fans. Our kindergarten teachers collaborate on foundational and discovery day curriculum, professional development, field trips, thematic activities, and more.

DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES, SAME SKILLS

The Foundation days curriculum for both full and part-time kindergarten students will be the same: literacy, numeracy, Bible, and playtime. Students in full-time will spend Discovery days learning more about the world through hands-on learning, curiosity, wonder, and of course, more play. This model ensures all students receive learning and skills that best prepare them for grade 1 readiness and onwards.
