We celebrated my daughter’s birthday in style this week–with a flight in a helicopter!
Thanks to the wonderful people who organized and ran the “Girls Fly Too” event at the Langley airport on March 8 and 9, as part of Women in Aviation Worldwide Week. As a Science and Math teacher, as well as a Mom to three girls, I can’t think of a better way to get young ladies excited about aviation and engineering.
We had a fantastic afternoon full of amazing learning opportunities–we got the chance to sit inside a fighter jet, explore a search and rescue plane, and go for a 12-minute flight north from Langley, over the Fraser River and the Golden Ears Bridge, and back. What a ride!
