If you attended our most recent society meeting on Thursday, November 21, you would have known that our building permit has officially been granted! We submitted for a building permit on November 19, 2018. Since we received a foundation permit earlier this year, we didn’t lose anytime in terms of our construction timeline, however, it is nice to officially have the permit process in our rear view. 

Now that this permit process is fully behind us, we can, of course, give our full attention to doing our best to complete the project on time (given our new timeline). Please see the construction timeline graphic below to get a clear picture of how and when we will accomplish everything. 
Also, student safety is very important during this project. As mentioned previously, our students will not be relocated during the project. This means we will be moving students in and around the campus in unique and flexible ways as we walk through the construction. Staff and students have been incredibly flexible so far and we expect to continue this throughout the entire project. 


  • Construction continues to be focused on the back of the school site behind the secondary gymnasium. This is where we are constructing the new middle school classroom wing of 7 new classrooms. 
  • As many of you know, we have been planning for the grade 5s to transition to the middle school at this time (for the middle of the 2020 school year), and as such we need these classrooms completed as soon as possible.
  • There will be a few other learning spaces in the secondary minimally impacted during the first few months of construction, and all stakeholders effected have been communicated with.
  • Our design team has made important decisions on carpets, flooring, paint colours etc. and will be incorporating these into the design moving forward.
