There is good reason for this. Looking back allows us to reflect on how full our lives really are and, more importantly, to see God\u2019s grace and goodness.<\/p>\n<p>The following is a list of highlights of this year. While some are fairly recent, there are honestly items that I had completely forgotten about and can hardly believe they happened within the past 10 months.<\/p>\n<p>Life is full. Sometimes that means it is busy, but through it all, God\u2019s grace and goodness shine through. I hope you enjoy reading this list as much as I did. Thank you, Elementary Staff!<\/p>\n<h1>TOP <del>10\u00a0<\/del>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 36pt;color: #c72264\">21<\/span> FAVOURITE MOMENTS THIS SCHOOL YEAR:\u00a0<\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a01.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0WAY back in late August, when the teachers competed in \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/myacs\/videos\/vb.421840764538028\/706705439384891\/?type=1&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minute to Win It<\/a>\u201d activities\u2014the most entertaining was when participants attempted to pass a cookie from their forehead to mouth without using hands!\u00a0<em>Seth Bakker<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a02.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Creating book trailers with grade five class. \u00a0<em>Linda (the librarian)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a03.\u00a0<\/span> My birthday. I was not at school that day, so Miss Feenstra sent me a video of our whole class singing &#8220;Happy Birthday&#8221; to me! <span style=\"color: #005693\"><strong>It was the most wonderful and special gift ever!<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<em>Monique Janz<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a04.\u00a0<\/span> All the snow days we didn\u2019t have. Groan!<em> Karin Riemer<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a05. <\/span>\u00a0PBL came to elementary school: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/myacs\/posts\/759108980811203\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pioneer Museum<\/a>, Intermediate Art Show, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/myacs\/posts\/826097667445667\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Potlatch<\/a>. <em>Karin Riemer<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a06.\u00a0<\/span> The 12 Days of Christmas Sing-Off with the middle and secondary campuses\u2026and we rocked it with, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tO-WLgVvqtM&amp;feature=youtu.be\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A Moose in a Maple Tree<\/a>.\u201d <em>Karin Riemer<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a07.\u00a0<\/span> Definitely last Friday\u2019s &#8220;Fabulous 5\u2019s Farewell Festival!&#8221; \u00a0That\u2019s a definite top 10! <em>Karin Riemer<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a08.\u00a0<\/span> The lobby reno was pretty fabulous! <em>Karin Riemer<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a09.\u00a0<\/span> The note a\u00a0little UP girl wrote one day (so sweet!):<br \/> <em>&#8220;In our world God made Jesus, and I rilie Love him. I love all the stories about him. I love the story abot the footwasing. He&#8217;s a relly good guy and wen he died and rose agan, that&#8217;s so cool. I cannot see him, but I hear the storys about him.&#8221; <\/em>Anthony Koster<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a010.\u00a0<\/span> After the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/media\/set\/?set=a.851977154857718.1073741880.421840764538028&amp;type=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Annie musical<\/a>, I went to my mother-in-law\u2019s house for cake.\u00a0As we were revelling in the afterglow, I mentioned how amazed I was that all the students, including those with differing abilities, were involved. My mother-in-law asked \u201cWho were they?\u201d That was beautiful! <strong><span style=\"color: #005693\">Everyone had a role in this huge endeavour<\/span><\/strong>, and any differences did not stand out! <em>Wendy Enns<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a011.\u00a0<\/span> I was amazed, humbled, thrilled and proud during that special moment of togetherness immediately following our evening production of \u201cAnnie\u201d when the kids rejoiced at all they\u2019d accomplished. <em>Melanie Rae<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a012.\u00a0<\/span> I think the highlight for me this year was taking two grade five teams to MEI Middle School for the math competition! Overall, our teams won the competition! It was a great day<em>. Lori Van Dyk<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a013.\u00a0<\/span> I remember the Professional Development day that Seth and Karin led in October, after coming back from High Tech High. Based on the response from those who attended, it was perhaps the best Pro-D day we have had and <span style=\"color: #005693\"><strong>set the stage for some great collaboration and learning this year<\/strong><\/span>. <em>Roy Van Eerden<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a014.\u00a0<\/span> The new Fun in the Sun\u2026and the fact that it was NOT raining! <em>Susan Dykshoorn<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a015.\u00a0<\/span> Celebrating the grade one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/myacs\/posts\/807638142624953\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Africa Day<\/a>\u2014playing all the games, making all the crafts, dressing up and eating all the yummy food! <em>Susan Dykshoorn<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a016.\u00a0<\/span> One of my favourite moments of this year was watching five of my students come to their own conclusion to a recess conflict and then seeking reconciliation together by closing their discussion with a communal popcorn prayer. <strong><span style=\"color: #005693\">They did all of this without any adult intervention<\/span><\/strong>. It was a moment filled with the grace and power of God.\u00a0<em>Judy de Waal<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a017.\u00a0<\/span> My favourite moment was on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/myacs\/posts\/833420790046688\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">structures field trip<\/a> with the UP classes. I liked exploring the Mission Bridge and taking a group picture in the train tunnel. Cool! <em>Sharon Allan<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a018.\u00a0<\/span> One of my favourite moments was when a student called me \u201cGrandma.&#8221; It was a first and I took it as a compliment.\u00a0I also had a student saying that her grandma worked with my dad (<span style=\"color: #005693\"><strong>it was actually my husband<\/strong><\/span>\u2026so these two cancel each other out). <em>Janita Minderhoud<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #ffffff;background-color: #c72264\">\u00a019.\u00a0<\/span> Mother Goose Tea. \u00a0Seeing the Moms act out their nursery rhyme with their child. \u00a0They were so creative and some made goodies that matched their nursery rhyme as well. What a fun way to celebrate learning!
