The Knights Senior boys basketball team placed 5th in the AA Provincials in Langley, March 6-9. The Knights entered the tournament as the 13th seed after finishing in second place at the Fraser Valley Championships.
ACS opened the tournament against the #4 seed, Eliphinstone Secondary of Gibsons. The game was back and forth and the Knights prevailed 64-61 in front of a large contingent of ACS supporters. Zac Meinen led the way with 16 points and 6 rebounds.
The second match up was against Sa-Hali Secondary of Kamloops. Both teams struggled with their shooting but it remained exciting as it was close right until the end. Ultimately the Knights struggled from the line and dropped a close one. Cole Brandsma led the offense with 25 points and 13 rebounds.
The Knights responded well the next day in their match against Westsyde Secondary of Kamloops. ACS jumped out to an early lead with all players getting into the game. The Knights hit 10 three point shots and prevailed 69-62. The win pitted ACS against #3 seed Langley Christian for their final game of the tournament. It was the fifth time these teams met this season. The gym was packed with fans from both schools. The game had a lot of runs and the Knights hung on in the fourth quarter for the close win, 69-66. ACS hit 11 three pointers and did well from the free throw line to secure the win.
Leading the Knights were Ben Rogers with 29 points and Zach Fleming with 8 rebounds. It was a great week with lots of fans in the stands and the Knights going 3-1. Zac Meinen was named to the 2nd all-star team.
