With the growth we have experienced in the past few years and continued kindergarten enrolment of 80 students, we have outgrown our current facilities. This fall, we need to add an intermediate class. We also are beyond a full-time music program and some sections of music will need to be taught outside of our current music room. This growth has put additional strain on parking, as we have all been noticing.
An Ad Hoc Team appointed by the board and chaired by Steve Atsma, has developed a plan and we would like to share this with you. This plan is considered temporary and we are beginning discussions for more permanent solutions.
The plan, as seen in the diagram above, includes three distinct elements to enhance our current facilities:
- Two portables on the north side of the property
- Up to 13 additional parking spaces
- An integrated ramp providing full accessibility to the lower playground area that meets accessibility codes
These additions will be on the north side of the current building. At the time of this writing, these plans are awaiting final approval by the City of Abbotsford.
The hope is to begin construction as soon as school is out for the summer. Final plans for occupancy of these new classrooms is still under discussion.
If you have any questions or comments on this plan, please contact myself, Steve Atsma or Julius Siebenga.
